Kindred Black x J.Hannah

We're thrilled to partner on a special edition scent with J.Hannah, a Los Angeles-based line of fine jewelry and edit of high quality nail polishes. Sharing a commitment to sustainability and community, while maintaining traditional standards of quality and craft, we felt the harmony between our two small businesses made this collaboration a natural fit.

Drink Deep, Psyche is packaged in a recycled sterling silver perfume bottle custom designed and cast by J. Hannah. With the same elevated creativity with which she designs her jewelry, Jess created an elegant and enduring showpiece designed to be at once a beautiful display objet and reusable, travel-friendly vessel.

J.Hannah’s collection is designed from 100% post-consumer, recycled gold and sterling silver, with every piece individually hand-crafted by local artisans and family-run fabrication studios; this process allows for careful oversight on craft, quality, and detail, while avoiding wasteful mass-production techniques.

The scent is a sweetly fragrant honey floral with exotic, spicy undertones. Richly potent with natural aphrodisiacs, this precious full-bodied botanical brew is hand blended in small batches, using wild, aromatic flowers and spices that have been used for thousands of years to scent the body and inflame the passions. Inspired by the ancient nectar, ambrosia, a refreshment that sustained the Greek gods and made them immortal, the word over time has come to be synonymous with something so fragrant and delicious that it is divine.

Drink Deep, Psyche is inspired by the story of Cupid and Psyche, an ancient legend about overcoming obstacles to love from the 2nd century AD. Psyche, who is mortal, is so strikingly beautiful that her admirers begin to worship her, forsaking their devotion to the love goddess, Venus. Enraged, Venus tells her son Cupid to shoot Psyche with one of his arrows, causing her to fall in love with the first thing she sees, someone or something Venus hopes will be as abominable as her displeasure with the girl. When Cupid goes out to accomplish his nefarious task, he accidentally grazes himself with his arrow and falls deeply in love with Psyche, defying his powerful mother. Her anger once again inflamed, Venus forces Psyche through a series of brutal and tortuous tasks that she must complete before she can be with her true love. When the young Psyche triumphs over the quest, the Gods of Olympus finally accept the magnificent maiden and she is given Ambrosia so that she might become immortal and be joined with Cupid as an equal. She becomes the goddess of the Soul.
