Metamorphoses

Narcissus des Plaines is a luscious, intense floral with herbaceous backnotes produced in Grasse, France, a medieval town in southern Provence famous for its fragrant blooms since the 17th century. Created using a chemical-free, artisanal extraction, this precious oil is in its purest, most rare form – it takes more than three thousand pounds of fresh petals to produce just one kilo of this fine oil. A nervine known as anti-anxiety and sedative, these delicate flowers have appeared in folklore as love tokens, are associated with holding a lover in high regard, and are often thought to be aphrodisiac and sensually stimulating.

Prized by the ancient Greeks and Romans, pure pink lotus oil is a bright, slightly sharp floral with a velvety sweet heart. Purported to attract harmonious loving relationships, pink lotus is also used during the practice of meditation because it is thought to soothe and calm the spirit and to promote spiritual growth.

From the Greek meta or "change" and morphe "form,” metamorphosis indicates the loss of the original form and a transformation into something entirely new. A symbol of that transformation, the shell is never fully of the sea, nor fully of the land. Much like many believe that the soul experiences a transformation once our earthly form has gone, the beautiful shell persists despite the loss of the animal that is inside.  

The nautilus is a symbol of perfection and beauty and this edition of Metamorphoses comes in a hand blown glass shell vessel in a celestial snow white glass. The bottles are each handmade individually by a collective of artisan glass blowers in Illinois.
