Description
A bittersweet time each summer, White Lilac Oud is our last lilac release of the year. Because the white lilacs were so incredible this year – massive fluffy blossoms that practically shook the earth around them when they burst into bloom in the spring – we used only these pale delicate petals for the limited perfume oil. The pure extracted white lilac oil is combined with a rich, fragrant oud wood oil from the heartwood of the tropical evergreen tree Aquilaria, also known as “the wood of the gods”. An unexpected late summer treat, the white lilac is powdery and romantic, and we wanted something deeper and darker. Intertwined with the sensuality of the oud, the perfume is less bright, creamy floral and more tactile and animalistic, with undercurrents of crumbly, damp earth, and sticky, honeyed heartwood.

Slightly more tropical and exotic than their pink and purple counterparts, the pure extracted white lilac oil is combined with a rich, fragrant oud wood oil from the heartwood of the tropical evergreen tree Aquilaria, also known as “the wood of the gods”.
Resinous oud is known as the world’s most valuable incense and has been used for centuries in rituals and ceremonies and in traditional medicines. Only one in a hundred tree specimens will contain the oud resin and why one tree created it and another didn’t was unknown. For many years the very oldest trees were indiscriminately cut down to find this thick, fragrant gold and as a result, healthy Aquilaria populations became extremely rare and endangered. Our precious oud is from trees that are plantation grown and sustainably managed and a method of natural extraction from these younger trees has been developed so that no old growth trees need be harmed for the resin.
