Beautiful vintage concho belt with solid brass slides that have simple decorative etching on soft and supple chestnut leather. The concho belt is believed to have originated with the Navajo and Zuni tribes of the United States Southwest, who may have been influenced by traditional Mexican horse bridles and other tack pieces. Early Navajo concho belts used hammered silver dollars strung together for the medallions and as the belts evolved, loops were added to the back so that the buckles could slide onto the belt.
