Antique gold filled pansy locket with paste diamonds, a form of imitation diamond made from cut glass popularized in the 18th century. Strung on a weighty solid 14k gold vintage box choker. During the Victorian era, when displays of affection and emotion during a courtship were frowned upon, pansies were placed into small bouquets of herbs and flowers and given by an admirer to convey feelings of love or affection.
